Hi all,
My jade plant is growing rather quickly but the leaves don't ever fill out. The best way to describe it is they're cupped.

I only water it when it's dry about 2.5 inches down and it's in a south facing window (picture not taken in window)

Any ideas on what I can do? Thanks!

How close to the south facing window? The spaces between leaves indicates not quite enough light. If the leaves are soft, water. Make sure the soil is hydrating. Water again when the leaves feel soft.

Does the pot have drainage holes?

Thanks Daisy and Sue.

It's directly in the windowsill so can't get any closer to the sun.

It doesn't have a drain hole. Normally I use a sandwich stick to make sure the bottom isn't wet before watering.

No drainage holes will be the eventual demise of this plant, if it hasn't already started as the leaves are suggesting. It would have been better to use that pot as a decorative one and use a plastic container with drainage holes for the plant to place it inside, draining it after each watering.

No drain holes is definitely an issue. Cactus and succulents need a lot of oxygen around their roots and a closed pot can't provide that. Maybe a repot?

It's literally my one pot without drainage holes! 😂 I have another pot I can move it to but should I cut back anything so it can grow more compact? I worry the leaves won't fill out and will start to fall off.

What's the best soil mix to keep the plant hydrating @ Daisy?

The stretched/cupped appearance is normal for a plant in lower light. But the asked-about plant looks like the foliage is alternate, so I think it is "trailing" Jade.
Trailing Jade (Kleinia petraea)

The cupping is also normal for a lower light plant of K. petraea. Your plant looks happy to me, for now, but do beware of adding too much water, as said above, because the pot can not drain. As long as it looks as healthy as it is now, it is fine.

Is there an inner pot or is the soil directly in the round pot? I find the round pot personally very attractive, but it will be difficult if/when you do decide to change this plant because the roots will not fit through the opening. The good news is that the particular plant can easily make new roots if a stem is cut, so you would be able to continue with it that way if needed.

In the future, if you can find a pot with holes that fits into the prettier pot, putting the hole-pot inside the pretty pot will allow you to remove the inner pot to water, so the excess water can drip out, then put it back so it appears that it is just the pretty pot involved.
The golden rule: Do to others only that which you would have done to you.

I think your jade plant looks like Trailing Jade, Kleinia petraea, rather than the more upright Crassula ovata (Jade Plant). Trailing Jade has a more viney, trailing way of growing. It does great in a hanging pot, if that is an option for you. Just make sure the pot has lots of drainage holes!
If you trim it up when you re-pot, the cuttings are very easy to root.
It needs more light to have a less leggy growth, but it will still trail over the edges of the pot.
Also, excessive fertilizer can cause stretched, weak growth. I'd hold off on the feeding until it settles in, then be very conservative.
Once it's in a proper pot with good drainage and fast-draining soil it will be easy to water correctly.

I agree, the leaf arrangement is the key. That plant was known for years as Senecio jacobsenii but has been moved to Kleinia petraea. When it flowers for you, you'll know instantly that it's not crassula ovata, the standard jade plant. It will need considerable light to bloom though.

Here's a poorly tended plant at my house. We're in the daily rain cycle here and even though it's in a porous mix,out in the sun, and hanging in the air it still doesn't like to be wetted every day.

The best soil for a succulent (or cactus) is something gritty and fast draining/drying. My go-to is cactus soil but as my favorite cactus soil is also for palms and citrus, I add perlite. The amount depends upon the plant. So for succulents such as yours, either regular potting soil with half perlite or cactus, palm and citrus soil with 1/4 perlite or straight cactus soil.
