Planted this Meyer Lemon tree this past spring and I noticed that the middle leaves are yellow-ish. Seems like there's several causes so I'm not sure what exactly my cause could be. It's been raining a lot so maybe that could be the cause but is this concerning? What, if anything, should I do to fix this? (if it even needs fixing). Is it fine or should I do something about it to try to fix it?

Have you tried fertilizing with a citrus fertilizer?

try giving it less sun, pale leaves (or at least yellow leaves) mean its getting sun burn

I agree with Sue. They grow in full sun here and thrive, even through 110+ heatwaves. If there is any concern about frost, I would wait until Spring to do any fertilizing. Then follow the directions on the package. Some yellowing is normal in the shorter days of Fall and Winter. Thumbs up

I also think it's soil/nutrient related. Citrus are relatively heavy feeders and also acid-loving, but I also agree with the above poster who suggested you wait till winter is over. Citrus are really robust, I have had them recover from 100% defoliation, so would not worry too much. P.S., You really cannot give a healthy citrus too much sun.

When my Meyers lemon took a turn for the worst, a local nursery recommended using kelp on it. I did and boy the plant recovered quickly. I used Kelp Me Kelp You. Now I use it for the spring fertilizing every year.

@CPPgardener noted thank you! Honestly I'm not sure if there might be any freezes, weather in this area can be pretty random so I wouldn't doubt that there could be a day of freeze despite the fact that it's been pretty hot. So I'm thinking I'll just wait until winter is over to fertilize again! last I fertilized was maybe back in August

@subtropix thanks! I wonder if a lot of my issues with growing things are soil related. I have a very clay heavy soil in my backyard and don't get much luck with growing things in the ground and have had far better luck with growing things in raised beds. Although I did have a lemon tree that did wonderful for many years until the Texas freeze killed it last year which is why I planted this new one. Anyhow, I think I'm going to listen to what you & most people said and wait until spring to fertilize!

@florange thanks for the input! Looked into this a bit. So it's essentially just a type of fertilizer? I'm going to listen to my suggestions and wait until spring to fertilize but if this is an especially good fertilizer then I will have to get it!
