I added this one a couple years ago. So far I've been very impressed with the increase in fans and bud count. Love the blooms Lovey dubby

I bought this from Laura ( TwixandDud) last Fall. It was a nice big clump then ( 8 fans). Unfortunately, I've lost the tag. I kind of know where it is and of course when it blooms I'll be able to ID it pretty easily. Meanwhile, I can't say much about how it did over the winter. Hopefully, more info will be forthcoming this Fall. Unless it doesn't bloom…mostly because I won't be able to find it.

Zoia,
Please come back here and post more information about your clump when you can find it! We'd love to hear all about it!

I love the large blooms and fine plant habits of Mars Attacks.

I've had Paul Owen's "Mars Attacks" for a few seasons now, and absolutely love the strikingly colored large blooms. Like all other "Slightly Different Nursery" daylilies I have (I'm a huge Paul fan, not only for his daylilies, but for his warm and wonderful personality -- and I've never even met him in person!), the flowers have a very solid substance, and the plant habit is strong, with sturdy scapes. My plant had a few blooms the first year, several more last year, and I'm expecting this year to be a great year, given how the clump looks now, healthy with many fans. One of my very favorites.

Mars Attacks arrived fall of 2020 and when it bloomed in 2021, most of the flowers were down very low. This might be a sign that it needs a different place. Here is the best picture from last year. It is a really pretty flower and I hope for better ones this year.

So, still no motion or flowers in Mars attacks. In fact it lost a fan ( I figured out where it was!), bringing it down to 7. Maybe next year?

2023 update…finally some bloom! Mars Attacks flowered from July 10-28 with 12 blooms. Even though it was down to 4 fans in April, it was back to 8 fans by October, so probably most of its energy was back into rebuilding. I bet next year will be a better show. The flowers are great although my scape was very short this year, a problem many flowers had with the Arctic Blast in February.
