I live in zone 8a ms.Does anyone grow ornamental alliums successfully in the south?If so, what varieties and do you amend your soil?Thanks!

Not sure if ornamental alliums are different than edible ones for growing conditions. Onions and garlic in the south need short day varieties, lots of Nitrogen but grow great here. They grow otherwise in a lot of different soils, but need drainage for the bulbs. Do ornamental alliums come in short day varieties?
