Unusual and shiny, is this an old heirloom type? 32" tall, blooming now.

That top bloom looks a bit off, but the other one looks like a regular bearded iris. A TB (tall bearded) if it's 32''.

Maybe someone else have another suggestion?
Of course I talk to myself; sometimes I need expert advice!

I agree that it's a Bearded Iris, that is either stressed due to not enough water or damage some how when growing.

Looks like herbicide damage on the top flower.. perhaps a little spray drifted over? As for what it is.. It could either be an historic, or maybe an Intermediate by looking at the form of the bottom flower. If it is indeed herbicide damage, you may need to wait until next season to get an accurate height and size.

I wondered if it could be herbicide, it's next to the sidewalk and the hubster is not as careful as I'd like. Sad

Another possibility... I once had a serendipitous seedling show up with narrow falls like that, as if it were a throwback from yesteryear. If it continues like this year after year then perhaps that is what it is.
