Thread OP

I thought I would post pics of what will likely be the last lily seedlings I will ever have. I have been looking for 2 years now for someplace in WA suitable to move to and the only 2 I've found will not wait for me to sell my house, they all want cash now. It is very overpopulated and extremely expensive here and finding usable ground away from busy roads is nearly impossible, anyone with an acre of brush covered cliff thinks they are selling paradise.
I only have a handful of lilies that I bred left and several commercial varieties, but hardly worth the trouble since the noise level has gotten even worse. The Chinese Illegal Cannabis Cartel has moved into the huge house next to the evil christians that tortured me out of business and since they are such good friends they added more noise to the hellhole this already was.
If I do list anything they will be on my regular site : growingcrazy.ecrater.com I closed down the buggycrazy one that was just for lilies last year.
The weather was terrible this "spring" and most of my hybrids and other special lilies I potted in hopes of moving rotted and/or died. It was the worst spring ever, wettest on record and very cold. But my best hybrid (so far), the white Western American one did OK and even bloomed.
Some of the OT hybrids like the Satisfaction ones went to the very small fenced landscape bed in part shade and the colors were so much better I would like to keep a couple of those.
I also lost the last of my seedlings from Fusion X Western American Hybrids. I have now lost all the seedlings I started after moving here, before the devil's spawn from hell moved in. I have bred nothing since. I have started nothing since.
The growing season here is short, but it is lethal in Spokane, so many of the oriental seedlings took this long to reach bloom size and unfortunately for me I like several of them even though I have no where to move.
So these are quite likely the last lilies I will ever make. I had a couple of new American Hybrids I liked, big blooms, one ruby tipped, one magenta tipped. The American Hybrids in pots do not like being wet and most died, these were leftovers in the field that did not bloom until now.

Sorry things are so miserable over there, Lisa. Your lily hybridizing is a great gift and I hope you find space and a way to continue. So much beauty in your post I don't even know where to start. 1 & 5 are my favorites! The others are nice too. I tip my hat to you.

This is very sad news. Maybe you could consider moving someplace without the high prices. (Iowa is nowhere near overpopulated.) It sounds like your remaining lilies need to be potted up and kept away from excess rain. Can these lilies be mailed out to people that are willing to grow them for you until you have a better place to live? I know, my suggestions are probably stupid but offered with caring.

Busy building a lily collection...
I'm sorry to hear that your neighbor troubles have been compounded further, Lisa. You do seem to be having a torrid time. It's a shame about your lilies. The 'spring' here was tough, as you say - cold & wet. I'm up near Mt. Vernon and I lost several lilies that were pushing through early. I don't know whether they will come back next year... Sad . You always have great lilies - I particularly like the white WAH. How many generations and crosses were involved in getting this this point? I know kelloggii can have very pale forms so maybe you started from there, and your hybrid may also have some L. washingtonianum somewhere in its past? It certainly is very pretty. Hopefully things will improve for you soon. Take care.

Thread OP

There is nowhere on the west coast affordable, I am a horticulturist, this is the climate I need. It has been totally overrun. The dope growing cartels buy up everything and as usual that is what runs Oregon economy. If I could afford it I would move to northern California, but the whole west coast is overpopulated and not by gardeners. Prices are now crashing so I may find someplace with usable ground in another year.
I was considering digging up and selling the few I have left in the field but my right hand is so bad I can't stand to do that much typing. It was operated on last winter, it didn't work.
It is also very dry and since I cannot get mulch the ground is brick hard and it is almost Oct and no real rain in the forecast. This is a forestry area, I am literally surrounded by mountains of bark and sawdust from all the mills and they all sell to only 2 places in WA, which have astronomical prices and ridiculous costs for delivery. Hauling is out of the question, I need UNITS not yards. Also that idiot Insley - the WA governor - made it so I now have to pay WA tax, as well as the astronomical Oregon property tax (for ZERO right to peace and quiet on my own property) so I'm double taxed here. This is NOT a horticulture friendly area, NO NURSERIES, NO PRODUCTION NOT EVEN GARDENERS NEAR ME. No plant people at all. In fact most people here have been even more terrible than Spokane. I called every arborist in 2 counties when my arborist disappeared. Only about 2 would even talk to me. No point in calling anymore since progress killed my phone service. I cannot grow my crops here, in this climate in this soil without mulch. Delivered by units. I cannot get anything else I need here either, supplies are a 100 miles away and chemicals have to be mail ordered.
Any idiot with a brush infested cliff thinks they are selling paradise from the prices they are asking and all the places with tillable ground are just left to grass or weeds since no body around here gardens. Nobody keeps animals either which is understandable since in Oregon the dogs have a license to kill and they do.
