November is National Gratitude Month. Our thumbnail photo for this month's thread is 'Grateful Heart.'

The past few years of drought, the ravenous gophers, emboldened by the advanced age of my two remaining cats, and my own increasing frailty are destroying my garden, but I'm striving to be grateful for the surviving plants. They are mostly roses grafted onto Multiflora and Fortuniana, which have never appealed to the gophers yet.

November 1st is Antigua Independence Day. 'Antigua' is one of the first roses I bought for my present garden almost 40 years ago. It's a big and healthy Warriner hybrid tea with lots of apricot-colored petals.

I hope that the rest of you will help in carrying on the Rose-of-the-Day feature. Trigger thumb recently has been added to the other problems I have with my arthritic hands, and typing has become quite a chore.

Not a rose of the day but I see we have another striking banner by Mike. Delightful!

Today is "All Saints Day", so I chose the Austin rose ´Saint Cecilia`.

Ahhh so sorry Zuzu, I did a bit of planting yesterday and my hip pain has flared up again, always something.😢

I took some cell phone shots yesterday of some of my roses, wanted to save them from today's first fall rains.
They include Cafe, Lady Emma Hamilton, the yellow Molineux, Perle d'Or and Sombreuil.

Oh I always covet your Cafe.

Here it´s still mild but I´ve already packed the potted roses well against frost.
The small Kordes rose ´Garden of Roses` still shows a beautiful autumn bloom.

Today is "World Ballet Day", that´s perfect for the rose ´Swan Lake`.
