I'm hoping to add more Sunchoke (Jerusalem Artichoke) seeds tomorrow.
I had 3 (free) packets from the Missouri Dept. of Conservation. I opened the packets to count seeds and...

Turns out that volunteers pack the seeds and all I had was 5 seeds in one packet, one in another and none in the 3rd. All chaff. I called, and they said they still have some properly packed packets. They are 2 hours away, but fortunately, my Iris Society meeting- in the same area - is tomorrow! Since 7 swappers wishlisted the seeds, and they do NOT appear to be available online, I'll get as many as I reasonably can.

I don't remember if I wishlistwd it or not, but if I didn't, and you get enough for a 8th, I'd appreciate it

All you really need is one sunchoke seed to grow! Hilarious!

I'm excited to have a few patches that aren't clones of each other for a change though.

I've never found seeds on my sunchokes in all the years growing. They have me baffled Hilarious! but I think maybe they aren't very self compatible and may need different varieties to get good pollination for seeds. Actually, mine don't always flower, especially in drought like this year, very few flowers. But, I started with two tubers and they multiplied into a large patch very fast!

I'm sure glad you feel that way.
I stood at the Nature Center's counter ripping apart the 11 additional packets they gave me, *Blush* and came up with a total of 14 seeds out of 14 total packets. Sighing!
I'll send them all to you. Please collect seed from yours for future swaps, including your original cultivar. Maybe I can start some in a year or two...

Since they don't seem to be going quickly, I've increased the number of acorns per offer for Bur Oak, Swamp White Oak, and Iowa White Peach, while reducing the total number of available dibs for them.

Those of you who get some this year, you'll get more seeds. Woo hoo for you!

I was planning on the peach. I have a natural wetland area on my property & I get a lot of wind. Which oak(s) would you recommend? In in northwestern Ohio

Sheesh, thanks for going to the trouble! No stress though, I am sure it will be plenty. I'm surprised they're able to find any seed at all honestly - I've grown them before but never seen a true seed. They bloom so late that they either never got around to finishing the job before the freeze or the birds would clean them out. I have to say, it's pretty hilarious those packets only had a single seed. It's like they know, too, that one will do!

You're welcome. It was an adventure. The day started with me chain sawing a huge hickory limb off my driveway. I only succeeded because my husband (who is on chemo and too weak to wield a chain saw) gave me directions so I wouldn't get myself injured.
Actually, that 14 for 14 was an average - there was one packet with 4 (the first I opened) a few with 2, a few with one and most had none at all. Blinking

@DraDiana kudos to you for working with a chainsaw. I was scared to operate one but since my husband has become disabled, & finding someone to come out every time I needed something cut, we went with an ego brand battery powdered pole saw.

Thanks Kathy.
Our chainsaw is a light battery powered type. Otherwise, I couldn't have used it either.
