Is it allowed to participate, if I live in Germany?
Sure I won´t win a prize, but it says in your terms and conditions that prizes must be shipped to the US and Alaska. What about Europe? Big Grin

You are most welcome to participate! Every year we have many people all over the world be a part of our photo contest. The lack of a prize is the only limitation.

Again though, the acorns are pretty worthless to members outside the US as raffle prizes etc can't be shipped abroad.

Nothing to stop you entering the photo contest though, if you do win you can donate the prize to someone else.

I see some of our foreign members get joy from getting and giving acorns. Just off hand Valery33 and Sergio come to mind... it would be one those more intangible prizes. I think it is a good idea!

That is the primary value for me of the acorns. To give them for exceptional pics or posts.

@dave I was just wondering - any way we can see if our photos get any votes? I never expect to win, but it would just be nice to know if I got any votes. Possible???

It's possible but I generally don't show the number of votes for all entries primarily because I don't want people to see that some photos got zero votes.

Yeah, I guess that would be sad to know your photo got zero votes. Crying But I have been entering fewer and fewer photos though.

I remember posting a photo that I was proud of to a photo contest here some 10 years ago or so and after the contest was over, I saw that it had only one vote, and that was from my daughter Katie. *Blush* That was the moment I realized that we shouldn't show the number of votes...

Still, I hope you do post as many photos as you have! The contests are supposed to be fun.

Thank you very much, Dave, however you want to do that. You're the one making the effort to provide the contest. I think the contests here are great and I appreciate the opportunity to have fun submitting a few pics and way more fun, voting. It's always really hard to decide because there are always so many great pics.

Perhaps vote-ranges instead of specific number then?
e.g. <25 votes could be zero votes, could be 24 votes.
Then 25-50, 50-100, 100+ votes
That would cover people's pride, perhaps.

Another way round (I think better), is to keep all photos anonymous.
That way people do not vote just for their buddies (or withhold votes from arch-nemesis), but actually for the photos themselves.

Identities can be revealed above a certain vote number, if required. Thinking Shrug!

The photos are anonymous during voting. We see entrants' names only after results are final.

I prefer not to see vote tally. I think knowing # of votes makes it feel more competitive than I want my gardening photo contest to be. I say keep it simple.

Oh I am so glad it is anonymous. Hurray! This is the very first one I have taken part in.
And only by accident because I asked a question, so I can find my way back to the competition page through keeping track of my own posts.

For some reason I lost how to access the competition. I figured there would be a giant red button on the homepage until the competition was over, saying "Photo competition: Enter Here!". But no. There is no obvious way to find your way back in if you missed the initial advert about it. Thumbs up

The # of votes is how a winner is determined. It's a contest. Not an exhibit.
