easy- it's .. well, name escapes me... the seeds spring out all over the place when they ripen. I think there's a species pensylvanica... c'mon somebody..
Bittercress (I googled winter weed maryland)
Cardamina pensylvanica or hirsuta.
Tastes like broccoli.
Plant it and they will come.

Agree.
Cardamine hirsuta is a pest.
It will grow anywhere and flower when just tiny.
A tiny stone can hid it even if you weed carefully

Ummm, I WAS wearing glasses! Somehow the seed found just the right opening around the edge. Guess one needs goggles when working around bittercress Angry .

If it is sweet and palatable, Upland cress (Barbarea verna) is a possibility.

Just like Creeping Yellow Woodsorrel (Oxalis). You'd think something that small couldn't cause so much irritation and discomfort! I've been hit by Bittercress too. In the eyes, in the nose, in the ears. Hilarious! None of it fun.

Aka artillery plant...
It isn't the blooms that shoot seed... it's the seed pods.
Prolly wouldn't taste too good if we wait until it has seedpods before picking for the salad bowl.

Sadly, the bittercress around here tastes similar to arugula... which I despise.

Just comparing the hostility of the explosive seeds.
