I see Forest Creek Farmhouse is offering a preview tomorrow.
They are a Canadian seller and I think just ship to Canada.
Has anyone ordered from them?

Great news! Peony Shop Holland now has a Canadian shipper.
Hopefully this means that we no longer have to each pay the hefty
Phytosanitary fee. Her name is Lois MacLeod of London Ontario.

Oh, my! I looked at their list and like 75% are new introductions. I am wondering how long it took them to make such a collection..

I suspect they used gene engineering technique. It is very possible today. Too many double peonies and too many of popular colors, and they don't list parents for their cultivars.

Caroline, I looked into their site. So many beautiful peonies (something like 300 varieties). I want them all but wouldn't have enough garden space to accomodate them all. I had been searching for a shorter variety and found a perfect one at 14", double red, early. Only thing, where does one find the prices? It looks like they are all sold out already, some varieties into 2025 Thumbs down I like the way the peonies are listed, you see the image and the height is shown as well so you do not have to open up the description for each one that catches your eye to find this out.

Tigerpaws, I don't think they're open yet for the season. Go on the website though and register for an account, you'll need it to order. Then when they open for the season they'll send an email notifying you. If I remember correctly they're normally open in Dec but the website still says 2022 season, don't think I missed the notification for this year! Mine gives the option to show prices in euros or US dollars, assume they should have Canadian dollar option as well, but billing is in euros. Make sure to check that group shipping option, so glad they have someone there to collect them for you guys now! It'll save tons, you'll be able to buy more peonies!

Peony Shop Holland does not do tissue culture. These are from hand crossed seedlings. Most will be very expensive? A price list will come out with the 2023 offerings. You need to be logged in to their site to view prices.

Do you know for sure that they used hand crossing, Caroline? I don't see parents for their introductions. They don't use tissue culture but gene engineering is a very different technique. It is my pure guess that they used it, please share information on their introductions if you have it.

Oh Anya that maybe ,but as I read it ?
Will have to quiz them on it to make sure.
I am not knowledgeable about gene engineering….will research that too.

They are open! I wonder who will order new introductions, some of them are less expensive but I will pass Smiling Gene engineering is expensive but very promising if you know what gene to use to improve something. I would guess they might have created a few cultivars from hand crossed hybrids. However, I would love to read about the new introductions. They offer remarkable peonies.

I asked Josh Scholten and he says yes they are traditional pollinated crosses, done by his hands.

Guess when you cross so many it's a lot harder to keep track of them, the massive fields that they have dwarf all
I've seen in the US. Wonder how many hundreds of pounds of peony seed they collect and use every year? Mind boggling!
I ordered but none of his new intros, just 3 roots this year! I'm cutting back as much as I can bear as I still have bagged ones to find homes for. Ended up replacing Independence Day, killed that one even before the move to AL, and adding Massive White and Majesty's Star. I'm pretty sure I looked at and dismissed Majesty's Star from Swensons in the last couple of years but the pic caught my eye and the description got me, love the large flowers and faders.

Liz, I don't see Massive White in their catalog. Is it Majestic White? I don't think you dismissed Majesty's Star from Swensons, I did not see it offered there, as well as other "Majesty's/Magestic" series. Swenson's have offered their Tonka, Glorious and Wonderous series. The photo of Majesty's Star is really nice.

Anya, I'll answer for Liz as she is on her cruise. She meant Grand Massive. I ordered it as well. I got Independence Day too. Craig has posted wonderful photos of his Independence Day and I have wanted it for a while.
