Zelly, I think the roots of Lorelei are small. Yours looks very healthy.
Your Door County Sunset bloom is lovely!

Congrats on Molly, Hiyamakki!

Wow! I'm glad I didn't drag my feet. I just checked when that
"in stock" email came in". 7:42 pm my time which is 3:42 pm for you Anya. It was sold out less than 12 hours later. I saw the email and placed an order right before going to bed. I had actually considered just waiting until morning.

Oh good to know and thank you! I'd be thrilled if it puts up a bloom or two in the spring. It's next to Coral Charm and I suspect they might clash but hopefully it will work.

Here's a new site with a very good price on Col Owen Cousins! I have never purchased from them so I don't know how the roots are.

Thank you LG! Only Lorelei is expensive there, all other peonies are offered at a lower than average price. Look at Pink Double Dandy! $40 is incredible!

$25 for Colonel Owen Cousins is an extremely attractive price. I remember paying $120 USD for this plant in 2018 before there was an infusion of Dutch root stock to North America. I can definitely recommend the plant at that price!

I believe Matt Snyder from the APS Facebook group page is behind Brandamore Specialties, and he seems like an honest fellow who knows what he's doing. Happy shopping, everyone! It looks like you have all been busy getting to it. Grin

Hi Nick so good to see you , have missed you.
How's your peony garden you planted two years ago doing? And would enjoy seeing some of your floral arrangements and peony flowers from the garden
Gonna run over and take a peek at your data base.

It was growing very nice for me, but one problem with adventitious roots - they are still sprouting even though I dug a very deep hole. My Adelman roots are developing slower than local and when I transplanted Angel Choir there was only one half inch new root after one year here. I think right herbaceous roots in
grafts are giving a big boost to TPs after all.

Quite possibly you are dealing with very aggressive nurse plant roots Alex. I have found that the only way to eliminate these (assuming the grafted cv has struck its own roots) is to dig up the whole plant and remove the nurse cv.

Good to see you here, Nick. And thanks for telling us that is Matt's site. He contributes a lot to the APS Facebook group, and I would have confidence in ordering from him.

There's quite a few folks here that don't get on Facebook, so feel free to post some of your gorgeous photos to the 2022 Bloom thread!

Yes, Valerie. I was hoping to skip pulling it out, but may do it this fall if it continues to show up. I tried to cut top eyes without major undertaking last year and will see if I succeeded.

I checked this vendor when you posted this and to my pleasant surprise, this vendor is located about 30 minutes away from my house. I will place an order to support this local business. The Colonel looks beautiful. I may get that. Anybody grows this peony? Can you share a few pics? THanks.

I ordered Colonel Owen Cousins from Peony Shop this year for the similar price , if I knew this vendor before I would have ordered from there. I try to avoid shipping from overseas. I always admired photos of Colonel Owen Cousins though some peony expert (don't remember who exactly) said the bush does not look good. I am OK with that nodding

Anya, this is the first time I have seen them offer peony roots, so who knew? Hopefully you will be satisfied when your root comes.

Very nice to see you all in this space again. It has been too long.

Bea, things are moving along at the farm. There are some issues with the soil, so we are hoping to get around them with a regimen of foliar nutritional sprays. My friend paid to have her soil tested, but unfortunately the results were not interpreted correctly by an inexperienced scientist. Hopefully this story will have a happy ending!

LG, great suggestion! I will have to share some of my photos here again. I will hopefully put together another video before things get growing. Crossing Fingers!

Colonel Owen Cousins has an extravagant, sumptuous flower, and it is quite distinct. The flowers are also huge and have some of the biggest buds I have seen - right up there with Command Performance. The plant habit could definitely be better but it seems to hold its own if its able to dodge rain and wind. I am partial to it because it's a Canadian hybrid and I'm a big fan of Cousins' work. I was just reading how his widow had trouble selling his seedlings upon his death before the Klehm Nursery scooped them all up. I found that pretty hard to believe!
