Last week I drove up to Jordan lake dam. I was there mainly looking for bald eagles. Unfortunately I only saw 1 bald eagle, and I got got no photos. I did see hundreds of cormorants and almost as many ring-billed gulls. I've needed to get a picture of a ring-bills for a long time, since I have not been to the coast in some time. I had a chance that day, first since I got my new camera so here's my attempt. Interesting to find ring-billed gulls over 100 miles from the coast, but I guess gulls are ubiquitous.

I saw a lot of birds over the weekend in Biloxi area, but was too busy watching & chatting to take pics. My SIL/BIL have 6 acres just north of town and it's like a bird sanctuary. Great relaxing way to spend a weekend.

Ooohhhhh. A new camera. How exciting! Looks like you put it to good use. Im a little jealous, I have to put mine in the shop this week. I carry it everywhere and the sensor needs to be cleaned because of all the dirt and sand I haul it through. Not to mention water. Ugh. What did you get?

They are adorable. Hard to shoot sometimes, because they are so skittish, and their colors match the brackish water they love. I am hoping to see a Horned Grebe next week. We don't get them here usually, but this year has been very different, and rumor has it there is a family on the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge. *anticipating joy* Thank you I tip my hat to you.

HI and Happy Wednesday!
I'm not big on ducks, they are starting to grow on me though. This is a Lesser Scaup, female.

My wood ducks were out today. They live in a cypress cove in the back northeastern corner of the lake, and I would estimate the distance to be as much as 75 meters away when I took this shot. Not much detail at that distance. I wish I could get closer. Too bad I can't fly or sail across the water in a boat.
I tip my hat to you.

I can't ever get enough of those colorful waterfowl. I wonder how they evolved to look like that. ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’œ

If there's a more colorful duck, I don't know it!

Squirrels are making me crazy this week. I do fill a feeder "just for them," but of course they have to check out everything else as well. I just saw one empty my peanut butter feeder! It's filled with a mixture of PB suet and extra PB, chopped dried apricots (that had turned black -- still delicious but unappealing to humans), and loads of cayenne pepper. Apparently there's at least one squirrel here who lacks the tastebuds for "Hot!!" DD says I'm breeding super-squirrels.

I don't mind the squirrels taking a share, but I'd like the birds to get a beak in edgewise.

Crazy "tree rats"....mine love hot. Grew jalapenos one year...they hauled butt with all of them๐Ÿ˜ก. That same year a sunflower seed grew under a feeder. I left it to get a nice seed head. The crazy critters were scared of it and wouldn't go near it. Go figure ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿคฃ
