Cubits was briefly down and is now back up, but only temporarily. I thought our chat thread in Zany's Playpen of Graphics needed a new home, because I don't want to lose touch with you all!

So here we are! I'm posting a link to here in our Cubits thread.

Our power was out most of yesterday. A tree limb fell on the power line. All the trees are still heavy with icicles and will stay this way for the next day or two...

Hurray!

I haven't reported much lately, because there's nothing to report other than a nasty case of shingles. Finally have the nerve pain controlled.

SO all I have to say is, if you're over 50 and you've been procrastinating about getting the shingles vaccine -- go right out and get it!!!

This afternoon, Josie has been "helping" me assemble a mini greenhouse I got at Aldi's. I'm planning to use it for wintersowed flats of seed... yes, I'll have to water them every so often, but I still think it will be an easy way to go. Once the weather warms up, I'll remove the cover and gradually get the seedlings up-potted or planted out.

Brenda, what's the situation with your place? Have you been able to schedule the needed foundation repair? You've been in my thoughts a lot. I know it's been rough going even before the quake, so just keep taking things one bit at a time, one day at a time. And bend our ears any time!

Christine, what a stunning fairytale landscape! Sorry about the power line, hope you aren't getting damage to any of your trees/shrubs.

One year a storm like that made my three Skypencil holly trees bend all their branches to the ground, like an octopus. I didn't try to free them, and nothing broke. When the snow and ice melted, they went upright again all on their own. I did have my doubts!

Susan, most likely @critterologist would be the one to continue that in the Sandbox forum at some point. The setup over there is quite different so most likely can't be imported over. New threads can be created, maybe labeled month to month perhaps.

What Sue said re. puzzles...

Right now, I'm archiving like mad. Then I'll see what I can do about a new thread for puzzles. I can't make promises there, because I'm not sure about loading an executable file. I may need to find another online location for the files and then upload a link.

The thing is, clicking on an executable file is a way to get a virus. That's why my browser makes me say "yes I'm sure" 3 different times before opening a puzzle file from a link in a Cubits article. So I'm not sure what safeguards Dave has in place.

Rest assured, I am NOT putting viruses into the puzzles! And jigs@w 2 has been around a while without having any issues, so I'm not concerned about the puzzles created with it. I'm just explaining why executable files may be blocked.

Yeah, Jill, I don't know how it would work either, but I hope it does! I'm considering putting the weekly spotlight of words in the sandbox but not sure how that would work out either...

Jill, yes, there's so many trees with heavy and breaking branches. Hoping for minimal damage. Several trees like you described with the branches touching the ground! But I looked this morning and the willow down at the pond is no longer touching the water. It's branches are now about three feet off the ground. Yay, it's warming up!

Hurray!

I'm doing some archiving of Cubits threads that I should have saved years ago, knowing that the site would eventually crash. I'm just grateful Dave got it temporarily fixed so we could retrieve things from it!

I want to show you how green it is now and why winter is so awesome for me. I live for this time and year and Christmas. (I don't think these are puzzle caliber. You can use them if you want, but you have better stuff.)

We were down south last week for a bit of camping, (Palm Desert, Ventura, Santa Barbara) the rains made everything so green! But there was a lot of storm damage and after two weeks, still a lot of cleanup going on.
