I planted Magnificent Rainbow in May of 2021. I got no bloom that summer and it ended that October with three fans. By April it was at two fans and by October it was down to one fan. I'm almost positive it won't survive this winter. I had a total of three blooms out of this plant this summer. Not a very strong showing here but it wasn't in a great location either. Here's the other two photos.

I had 'Magnificient Rainbow' in 2018, it tried to return in 2019 but was never able to make it. I only have one photo of the bloom.

This is apparently the last that was ever seen of it in my garden.

I have no notes on it, not even when or where I bought it from.

Magnificent Rainbow does well here. It is a strong grower, and it blooms a bit later, I would call it ML. It seems from earlier comments that it likes a colder climate. We do have good snow cover here, though.

'Magnificent Rainbow' has been growing here in central Ohio for about 15 years or so. It has grown and flowered well every year. It's a nice clump about 30" across that can't expand because it's surrounded, lol. It is growing in our bottomland silt loam and has not been fertilized nor watered since it was planted. It flowers well every year. The branching and number of buds are not as large as they would be if it received some pampering. It was better the first 3-5 years after planting before it became so crowded. Still, it produces a nice crop of scapes every year and holds the flowers nicely just above the foliage.

I like the colors, eye patterning, and form of the flowers very much. Although registered as lavender, the colors here are closer to a pink background as seen in this photo by @twixanddud

And this one by @mattsmom

I recommend it if the flowers appeal to you too!

I grew MAGNIFICENT RAINBOW for many years. It did well in Zone 6b -7a and then Zone 5. It bloomed just above the foliage. It benefitted from afternoon shade. I got rid of it because the lavender/pink color did not hold much beyond Noon.

I grew it successfully for many years until the grubs took it out. I liked its patterned eye, but I didn't care for how short the scapes were.

2023 update…Magnificent Rainbow did not bloom this summer but did put on three fans to end at four…did it pull itself from the brink of death? We'll find out next summer!
