Standard Dwarf Bearded Iris (Iris 'Blue Que')
Does anyone know what this little iris looks like? Seems the beard color is different in each photo as well, one or both photos seems incorrect. I tried to search for this and got varying results.

Usually I would say , yes, one is wrong BUT they have the same form and beard color. Deep shade would made it look more purple to her camera perhaps? It should be a lighter color like the one you posted but I am just not sure you can throw the other one out as a positive incorrect iris.

Here is it's AIS page. Range of colors, but none quite as purple as Cliftoncat's.

I don't agree that the beard color is the same on these. I'd say one of them is wrong simply based on the fact that one has a beard that is darker colored than its petals, while the other has a beard that is lighter than its petals. Also, I don't think the form is the same. Cliftoncat's iris has narrower falls than the other one.

Judging from https://wiki.irises.org/Sdb/Sd... I'd have to guess that Cliftoncat's is the odd one out.

The beard color looks different to me, one is quite blue the other much lighter. The color is no where near the same on the falls, the lighter one appears to have a striped/colored veining, while the darker one appears to be more of a solid color and much more saturated. The standards are a looser form on one vs more closed on the other. Just seems to me like too many variances to be the same thing.

I don't agree that cliftoncat's picture is wrong. That color is particularly difficult to photograph and highly affected by variances in lighting. All of the pictures of Blue Que, including cliftoncat's, show distinctive veining in the falls and the beards are the same when looked at in isolation.

Irises of that color also have a tendency to change shade as they age. These pictures are all of the same flower, just different lighting or flower age.

yes the age of the bloom can make a big difference.
Maybe having more photos added to the entry would help to see the variances in the bloom.
