I'll start Smiling
Since I have a few days off, I can now take care of my cuttings
The best part is seeing the roots and potting up the cuttings
English is not my first language so please excuse my mistakes *Blush*

Hopefully they will thrive Crossing Fingers! Big Grin

Yesterday I put a few cuttings directly into the soil to make the plant fuller
I used rooting powder for this for the first time
Let's see if it's worth the money Green Grin!

Great idea for a thread @Mrs_Hottentot! Your props look great; I hope they all thrive for you.
I always have a good number of cuttings rooting up on my windowsills; I enjoy watching those roots grow and find it interesting in how long it takes for them to form. Some take a looong time and others seem to form roots overnight! The majority of cuttings I have tried have rooted well, the problem I sometimes incur is adapting them to the soil. I often try to pot them back in with the mother plant to make it more fuller but these cuttings often fail. I do try to keep those pots moister for the first few weeks to help those water roots adjust but often am not successful. Do you find this? Usually if I pot the cuttings up in its own container they do much better. For me, potting up unrooted cuttings is often hit or miss but I haven't tried rooting hormone, even though I do have some! D'Oh! Anyway, it's fun starting new plants and I enjoy passing them on to family and friends!

Propagation is addicting! All of this is propagated except the Ajuga and pink Impatiens at the bottom, which are grounded store-bought root balls.

Coleus is one of the easiest to propagate, Any stem in dirt, water, ignore, bam you have a new plant. This week I took stem sections where the top had been cut off and the lower stem has little buds just barely starting to grow out. Two nodes each. Cleaned off the lower node and planted to the level of the upper node, they look like they're growing already.
Possible fail- large cane begonia. But I see a new leaf emergning so maybe it FINALLY has roots. I was surpised to check after weeks and see no sign or roots at all.
I usually go without hormone, but I am trying coffee cuttings, soil, with hormone and some in water without.
Plant it and they will come.

@DebbieC , I planted these unrooted cuttings in mom's pot about 5 weeks ago
without rooting powder , sprayed it and waited
Looks like it worked !?
But looking at it now, I was a bit stingy with the cuttings , so I'm going to plant a few more
And I wonder if the Hoya Linearis always has to look so gray and pale or if iron is missing Confused

Coleus is popular here as a garden annual. But many of us had a mom with stems of Coleus in water on the windowsill at times.
It might be a fun colorful addition to the balcony for summer at least.
Plant it and they will come.

Some random snippings in water. When they have roots, I'll take them to my mom's. She's in need.

Almost forgot the Graptosedum pics. This was dangling so far out of the pot, I wasn't able to move the pot anymore. A lot of succulents have so much to offer as dangling plants, but so rarely get the opportunity to show that side of their personalities.

I put the removed pieces in a flower bed, but they'll probably be overrun with weeds in about 2 weeks. Tiny plants don't do well out there but I'm out of other places to put more of that plant. It's hardy here so having any in a pot is just an occasional novelty. Need to make another palette planter for my mom. One of those can hold a LOT of plants.

I'm very skeptical that this will work, since one cutting only has roots but no leaves Hilarious!
But there's no harm in trying Big Grin

If you can roots to grow, new leaves will happen. I have terrible luck trying to root Hoya cuttings. Those look good to me!

This Streptocarpella was sent to me by a wonderful, kind member on here as cuttings, which have grown into a great plant that has yielded many other cuttings. The little flowers are on long wiry stems so it looks like fireworks, or butterflies, hovering around.

Here's one that is in the ground "as an annual" after roots were started in water.

OOps, not finished. Also took pics of a propagated plant sold "as annual", Geranium (Pelargonium.) Outside for summer, inside for winter. I have better results starting roots on these stems in water first, if better results can be interpreted as less leaf loss and faster blooms.

Hi! New here but I think I've found my happy place. Smiling
Not houseplants specifically but question about propagation of jasmine & lantana. All my research seems pretty 50/50 split on whether to root in water or go straight to soilless medium. Experimenting with both right now.
I'm happily overwhelmed with a new yard & trying desperately to fill in on a fixed budget. Any & all tips will be appreciated. Thank you.

Welcome, Brauneyz! I don't have any info about Jasmine but I've done Lantana successfully a few times each way. Not enough to declare if one way always worked better. Best luck to your props! Let us know how it goes.

I enjoy propitiating plants.
Some grow fast other like, African Violets take a little longer to get started.
However it is great fun and good to share with plant friends
