Good morning everyone, it's been a long time since I have been to the forums. I have never done a seed swap before. I have traded a few of this seed I have for this one a friend's has had is about it.

Most quantities of seed I have at the moment is probably not enough to do a lot of trading. How does this all work? What the minimum number.of packets needed to participate? Thanks.

Hi Shawn! Welcome! Welcome!

Looks like I'm the first one over here this morning. Smiling

While we wait to hear from our hostess, @DogsNDaylilies here's another post from this swap that talks a little about how many seeds are needed that you can take a look at:

Hi Shawn,
It's okay if you don't have a lot of seeds to share on your first swap, and you get more back than you put in. Returning swappers should find themselves coming out about even. We are blessed with some very generous seed collectors who consistently give more than they get and seem to thoroughly enjoy themselves doing it. Their seeds need homes! Hilarious!
Just get together what you can and try not to stress out about it. If you come back next year you can plan ahead better and contribute more.

Shawn, I know I have Amana Orange seeds in my hoard of seeds. Thumbs up Hilarious! But, once you see the vast list of tomatoes being offered in this swap, you will probably find some new tomato varieties to add to your list of wants. Smiling

Most of the ones I plan to submit will be ones saved from varieties I'm doing this year including Bradley and some dwarfs like Goldfinch. But I can't make promises due to my very bad weather and pest issue. I also hope to obtain new tomato varieties for myself as well. I'm broadening my horizon to dwarfs, as they've saved me a ton of space this year. Smiling

When it comes to peppers I'm pretty good, just have a few left I want.to get, it's just tomatoes, a medicinal herb garden left, and possibly a few flowers. Im also on the hunt for carnation flowers.

I always have plenty of tomato and pepper seeds to share. Right now on my day-to-day trading list I have over 100 different tomatoes and 40 different peppers listed. That's not even close to what I actually have available to trade, just what I have packed up right now. All are from grow year 2021 to now and I have 90 more varieties in the garden right now! I love to see what people are looking for so I know to add it to my swap list

Do you have any seed for some purple, black or white bell peppers? I'm all ears!

I might have some Purple Beauty and I'll have to check if my Nokturn pepper made it. I didn't start any of my other bells, they don't do too well usually.

I'll look for them... I say I know I have them but where is another story. Hilarious! *Blush* And while I'm looking, I might as well start adding some seeds to the swap. Smiling

I just started looking through my stash but no Amana Orange seeds yet... it's become unorganized over the years, especially since the grandkids have been sifting through them recently.

Shawn, are you considering joining this swap and did you look at the link I originally posted in this thread about how many seed packets required? In all of DND's past swaps, here's what she says: " The minimum packet contribution is currently only set at 3 packets (of any quantity and type)."

I'm not doing personal trades at this time but I'm really looking forward to sharing as many seeds as possible in this swap. I'll keep looking for Amana Orange. Smiling

Shawn,
There is a forum for those wishing to do individual swaps, if this swap isn't what you need/want.
It's called
"Plant and Seed Trading"
You may want to start a thread on that forum and see if anyone responds.
If you don't want to end up with dozens of different seed packets, the postage on this kind of swap is an unnecessary expense. However, say one wants 10 different seed types, and has to swap 10 different people to obtain them, getting all or most of them in a swap like this will save on postage significantly.
Best of luck to you, either way. Smiling

Good idea about the seed and plant trading forum, Diana. Thumbs up

Here it is, Shawn, if you're interested. People list what they're looking for all the time, with a list of what they have and people can send them a private tree-mail to make the arrangements.

https://garden.org/forums/view...

But, if you do enter into this swap, you will have a one time shipping cost and will receive many seed packets of your choosing. It's usually around 100 packs of seeds, with a chance at many more bonus seeds, per person.
