I looked it up: it's pronounced Pet-TRY-kor. And this is neat, it comes from the Greek, a combination of the words for "stone" and this magical substance that was believed to be the blood of the gods. Isn't it amazing there's a word for such a specific thing, the scent of rain falling on dry earth? Amazing. Language is amazing.
