We are on high alert for very bad air quality here in northeastern Ohio. I went outside to take my dog out and noticed how hazy the air was. I saw that this alert is for many counties in Ohio and Indiana. We closed up and put the air on because I could smell the smoke when I went out.
I do realize they are having a hard time putting the fires out, but, I wish this could/would end.

It was terrible in the Hudson Valley earlier this month, but we've been OK the past couple of weeks. This is a "before-and-after" type of photograph that shows a normal afternoon on the left side, and a smoke-filled afternoon earlier this month on the right side, from the same location looking out toward the Hudson River from our upper garden. You'll notice that Dunderberg Mountain is clearly visible on the left, but completely obscured on the right.

My lungs aren't burning, but, as I said, we closed up the house and put the air on. Can you do that, Jasmin? It's supposed to get better here in Ohio tomorrow and I hope your area, too.

Those pictures are amazing. It's not that bad here, but, we are in the red right now, so, it's a tiny bit better than last night. I remember how bad it was in your area last month. Our low last night was 53 and we had to have the air on due to the air.

Patricia, I think that something is wrong with my AC. I've been trying to find someone to look at it I didn't think it was that bad when I went outside yesterday. Just after that, when I got home and later in the evening, I realized that I had difficulty breathing

Oh, that's not good and I'm so sorry. Maybe you should think about an urgent care if the problem with breathing continues.

I am so sorry to hear that. I am looking for a good air purifier, but they really don't look promising. All of them have many negative reviews. Do air purifiers really help? Please advise.

I hope you can stay indoors for the rest of the day. In our area it's supposed to be much better tomorrow, but, I'm quite a bit north of you, Niles, Ohio and I don't know how your area will fare tomorrow, but, I hope it's better, also.

@Jasmin I'm not sure if this will help since you are in Canada but when NYC had really bad smoke (AQ484) I turned on my Bissell air purifier. It got the rid of the smoke smell and the reading went down to about 110. I have asthma so I was really suffering and it helped tremendously! I'd definitely recommend that brand. Not sure if they have it in Canada though.

Jasmin, I hope you can get one. Maybe try googling this brand and see which has the best reviews. These fires are supposed to go on for awhile, so, I hope you can get one ASAP!

@Jasmin I bought the Bissell air320Max & MyairPro bundle. The air320Max is good for large rooms and the Myair I use in the bedroom. I has a sleep mode so you can't even hear it. If you get them I'd recommend buying some extra filters at the same time.

This haze irritates my lungs so much that I cannot even go to buy pots to plant recently acquired small roses You could tell that this is some serious air pollution; otherwise nothing can stop me from going to nurseries I've also planned to buy two or three more small roses

Although yesterday morning was nice, smoke started coming back down the Hudson Valley yesterday, and it's hazy and smelly today. But I try to keep some perspective... this is nothing compared to what our forum members in California and some other states have lived through.

No real change here; it is getting worse
