You are irresponsibly featuring tree of heaven which is listed as invasive with the center for invasive species and ecosystem health.

Ailanthus altissima forms dense, clonal thickets which displace native species and can rapidly invade fields, meadows, and harvested forests. This invasive tree species is extremely tolerant of poor soil conditions and can even grow in cement cracks. Ailanthus altissima is not shade tolerant, but easily invades disturbed forests or forest edges causing habitat damage. Introduced as an ornamental, it was widely planted in cities because of its ability to grow in poor conditions. Management and control efforts for this species continue across the United States at great economic cost.

There are many kinds of plants listed; this is an informational website and we should probably take the time to learn about all plants, 'good' and 'bad'. It is not being sold here.

The headline at the very top of the database page for Tree of Heaven (Ailanthus altissima) states as follows:

This plant may be extremely invasive in your area. We do not recommend planting it. This page is an informational database entry and in no way is an endorsement of the plant!

I think the original post referred to the mention of Tree of Heaven in the recent NGA newsletter. I was surprised that the listing did not mention its less desirable characteristics too.

@Notsigningup (you just did) Rolling my eyes.

The weekly newsletter lists random plants pulled from our large database. They are not hand selected. Those invasive plants exist, therefore they are a potential plant that can end up in the newsletter. Had you clicked on that particular plant name highlighted on blue, you would have seen the invasive disclaimer Lin posted above.

It is now added. Anyone can edit the details in the plant database. (Choose "Others" to add additional info). Admin will review and approve the requested edits and you get an Acorn too.

See other info I added. Admin approved the additional details and even gave me an Acorn too! I wanted to put these info under Miscellaneous but there is no ✍️ editable field in Miscellaneous.

However, the additional details and the warning on the top page posted by Lin will not be visible in the newsletter. Members or non-members (I hope) has to click the data info to read these additional info and the comments about the plants.

But that shows the invasive comment in the general data area for Leaves. I prefer the comment as it appears in the location at the very top of the page beneath the plant name and in bold text, as it's shown on the page for Tree of Heaven (Ailanthus altissima)
