Hi Fellow Enthusiasts! I'm all done posting photos into the database and DOTD threads. That took months. So, it's time to begin that fun, annual adventure, a walk through memory lane!

The basic idea, for those who haven't been on this tour before, is that I go through my garden day by day posting the ( literally) thousands of photos that I didn't have time to post in July…mostly because I was busy taking them. And working. And having a life.

But here we are, and it's Winter! What better time to review the fabulous faces and colors of a July garden? Last year this also became a forum for all sorts of asides, comments, discussions about plants, hybridizers, etc. If you want to use this thread to review your own unposted garden photos, I'm sure no one here will object to more pictures of Daylilies! After all, I only have 900 of them ( so far) so, a limited variety. And fair warning! This is a daily tour of what was actually open on a given day. I don't have a problem with taking photos of the same plant day by day. To me they always look different. Different day. Different light, different flower, different angle. So be prepared for repeats. This is what they do in your gardens too, I'm sure.

I like the garden shots, Zoia. Somehow mine don't turn out that well.

As for the individual flowers, Strawberry Rose, Butter Cream, and I Dreamed a Dream caught my eye. You uploaded a picture of Yellow Lollipop with astilbe in the background that I just loved--I think it was yesterday. It should have been in the photo contest!

I have Smiling Cobra, but it is still just a single fan. No blooms yet.

Thanks guys! Oh, you'll love Smiling Cobra, it's such a great flower once it gets swinging! Mine took about two seasons but last year was great.

I noticed the rain too and it looks like most are holding up well. Like Nan, Lava Flow got my attention as well as Geometric Wizard.

Then I left for Heaven ( the String Quartet festival, not the actual one). The next time I could take pics was the afternoon of July 5.

Ok. Moving on to July 5, my birthday. It was extremely hot and I didn't get home until the middle of the afternoon. It's sort of an interesting opportunity to see how the flowers held up, as I usually photo them in the morning, when they are at their best. We'll see how much tolerance for fried flowers we have. Some of them actually look quite good slightly faded, some of them take on unusual characteristics and others are just not pretty. But it's good to know which ones have staying power.

I normally take photos in the morning when everything is fresh too. There's so many factors to consider when blooms don't appear to hold up on hot days, even a little early evening shade can perk some wilties back up!
Enjoying seeing your images, color is needed this time of year.
Out of Balance remains a favorite of yours for me. I'll have to watch as the "days" go by, but I don't think it had a bad picture all summer.

Those afternoon shots really show which ones stood up to the heat of the day. Looks like you had several that did.

I remember when I was going through the DotD threads noting what a nice cultivar this one seems to be. It is one of those older cultivars that deserves to still be grown and appreciated.

I agree! I was encouraged to buy it by the Seawrights who used it in their hybridizing because of its good plant habits. It is short, which is currently out of fashion, but has wonderful form, substance and scent. There are places in the garden for shorter plants!
