Earlier this year you had an article that addressed a very invasive asian tree with thick rope-like roots and leaders. I'm afraid I have an invasion that had its start in 2022. Can you please help ?

Do you remember the name of the tree? Or find the article again? Nothing is ringing any bells.

Was it the tree of heaven (Ailanthus altissima)?

I don't know the name of the invasive item. I think it's the only one specifically addressed by the site (NGA.) They sprout and are 3 feet tall in a day or two. Then the energy seems to go to another area and another sprouts.

yes, please. Even now with no leaves, the stems and scars should be enough . Ailanthus is very common around the region.
Plant it and they will come.

I agree

If you are 'being invaded:'
Step 1) identify (we can help)
Step 2) make an effective plan (we can try to help, as can your local agricultural university extension, and perhaps your neighbors and community)
Step 3) implement plan vigorously and continue as long as it takes (that's all you, and maybe your neighbors!)

Above steps are effective with invasive plants, weeds and bugs! Always start at step one! Step two hints at the fact that an invasion in your yard may actually be a larger community problem in your area. Invaders come from somewhere...

Which brings us to a somewhat recent thread you may be remembering. The only recent thread I'm aware of was at the link below.
Its topic wasn't really about specific control of any certain invasive species, but it does mention the Tree of Heaven (Ailanthus altissima.)

Even if that tree is your concern, I still doubt the recent thread would be helpful in your situation, but it is here:
