I've started posting offers to add to orders I'm placing, see if anybody wants seed baggies, tulle, etc... and so I figured it would be a good idea to put all those things in one place.

So, this thread is for shared purchases and deals to be delivered at the spring plant swap. For most things, it's probably easiest to just do cash/check payment at the swap. If somebody wants to add a truly bodacious amount to a nursery order or something, then you might need to slide me some $ ahead of time.

Anybody else placing orders or finding good deals... please post here!

You can also put items into your trade list even if they are not "free to good home." I've done that before with things like marker pens, just making a note of the price.

Things I've mentioned so far....

I want to order scented geraniums and maybe some other items from sandy mush herb nursery. I'm going to try to get information on shipping cost this week. They don't do online ordering and are "working on" the 2024 price list. I'm sure we'll be able to order in plenty of time for pickup at the swap.

I'm about to order some jewelry making stuff, and Fire Mountain happens to have good prices on 2s3 zip-top baggies like the ones I use for seeds. $1 will get you 100 plain ones, or I can get ones with a translucent white write-on block (ballpoint works great) for about $1 for 80.

I just ordered WIDE ivory tulle, 108". $5 for more than 5 yards, less than 6 (I don't want to try measuring with more precision than that).

Also, I'm going to order strawberries from Nourse Farms. They have my all time flavor favorite, 'Mara des Bois'! They're highly rated by Garden Watchdog, not much mention in our green pages here (yet), so although I haven't ordered from them before, I expect things to go fine. LMK if you want to add to my order and save on shipping. They sell mostly berries and a few other things like asparagus. https://noursefarms.com/

Nourse Farms ships via Fed Ex (2 days to here, which is good). Their shipping costs start VERY high, at $22 . But the increases for larger order values are modest ($1 more for orders between $60 and $85, and another $1 gets you to a cost of $24 for shipping up to $140 worth of plants). SO, the more the merrier! If you order bare root plants and can't pick them up right away, I'll pot them temporarily (meaning, they might be a bit crowded but since they'll just be waking up that should be fine).

Terri wanted to try a few 'Mara des Bois' strawberries also. (They have the most amazing intensity of flavor and aroma of any non-alpine strawberry I've ever come across.) I think I'll be ordering a second bundle of them, so if anybody might want, say, 5 plants to try, let me know. They will produce runners (like most strawberries), so by rooting them as they appear you should be alble to turn 5 plants into 25 or more by the end of summer. With current shipping costs, that's looking like $8.11 for 5 'Mara des Bois'.

I want to get the Norse Farms order in SOON, let's say before Wednesday (3/13) noon.

Let's do the same deadline for seed bags, if you want 2x3" plastic zip bags with a white write-on block, let me know by Wednesday noon.' I'll order the plain ones regardless and have 500 available at $1 per approximately 100.

The tulle has been ordered, and assuming I get what I think I'm getting, I'll have (3) 5-6 yard lengths available for $5 each. Smaller or larger quantities can be arranged, but I want to keep 30+ yards, which I hope will be enough for several years!

We've also placed our order with Greenhouse Megastore. Since I ordered 10 more blue 1020 trays, I will have several extra black "mega heavy duty" trays and a few non-vented domes (lets say 5 of each) that have never been used. If interested, I'll figure out the price per each from my order history. They look to be nearly as sturdy as the PermaNest trays I used for almost 20 years, although I don't yet know how they will hold up to UV over time.

Likewise, I've got deep 36-cell and 48-cell inserts (sheet of six 6-pack pots, perforated for easy separation) as well as some web type carry trays, all 1020 size (10x20"). I order stuff like this in bulk every few years, so I generally have extras.

Jill,
I just put together an order for Nourse.

Black Raspberry, Bristol
__ Qty: 5
__Cost: $36.75

Currant, Rovada
__ Qty: 1
__Cost: $12.60

Strawberry, Jewel
__ Qty: 25
__Cost: $21.00

Rhubarb, Cawood Delight
__ Qty: 3
__Cost: $33.60

The total is $104 without shipping. I was thinking of May 20 as a ship week.

Would you be able to combine with yours, or should I do mine separately?

Thanks!

May 20 would work, but it might be better to get some of that bare root stuff planted earlier. Maryland ag extension says to set out strawberries ("field grown plants") in March or early April. I have your 10 blue trays, so if you want to do an earlier order (maybe for delivery the week of April 8?) we could meet halfway?

LAST CALL for Nourse Farms order. I'll put it in tonight after 9 pm. If anybody wants to try just a few 'Mara des Bois' strawberry plants (say, 5-6), let me know and I'll order a double set (50 instead of 25). Otherwise, I'll just order 25 and slide 7 to Terri. I think they are the BEST non-alpine strawberry for sweet flavor and aroma, mid-sized berries produced all summer long.

There will be 100 packs of plain clear plastic 2x3" baggies available for $1. I'll put a few into my tradelist. If you want white china markers or Extreme sharpies (black, regular point aka fine), LMK so I can watch for a sale price.
