If you want a new forum then you need to create a new thread in Site Talk and see how much interest there is for that particular forum and Dave will decide if it's feasible or not. https://garden.org/forums/view...

I posted these previously at the bees and other garden friends forum, but I found this 1 after thinking that it would be cool if we had a game camera forum, so I thought I would share these.

I tip my hat to you.

We do have a photography forum here: https://garden.org/forums/view...

It says "Tips and Techniques" but really, we talk about all things photography-related there.

Please, no. The purpose of the Photography Tips & Techniques forum has been discussed many times. This is the intent of the forum, stated on the forum's page:

This forum is for the discussion of photography as it relates to gardening. It is intended to encourage and help people become better photographers, regardless of skill level, not as a place for the general sharing of photos. We have a separate Garden Photos forum where you can share your photos of your gardens, as well as the Sandbox for non-gardening discussions and photography.

So if you would like some feedback that might help your videography, Web, then the Photography forum is the right place. People do just post pretty pictures from time to time, and no one gets mad, but it does show they are unaware. Smiling

Of course, I was never saying to use the Photography forum to post plant pictures. We have a database for that.

But, we already have plenty of threads such as what Web is speaking of in the Photography forum. Just to give a few examples:
https://garden.org/thread/go/1...
https://garden.org/thread/go/1...
https://garden.org/thread/go/1...

In each case, there isn't some big photography class going on. Mostly, it's enthusiastic photographers wanting to share their treasured photos.

The first thread was even created by a moderator (a contest encouraging people to post their favorite pictures of a certain category!) so I think it's perfectly fine to do it if a moderator is doing it. Thumbs up

So, even if those people are acting against the original rules of the forum, you can understand if members are receiving mixed signals with what the moderators are doing as opposed to what the members are allowed to do.

I just checked, and many of the most recent forums and stickies aren't even that instructional. Mostly just people sharing photos with one another.

Perhaps we can have Dave clear this up.

ETA: Last bit of info. I went back to the thread where Alan shared his awesome wasp images, and both moderators were very happy to see the pictures. I don't see any reprimands for it, although I acknowledge that could've happened in DMs:

Yup, a lot of unaware people, and a lot of good, friendly people not willing to make it a big deal out of it. May I invite you to read the Forum sticky: Forum Announcements https://garden.org/thread/go/1...
where Dave and the forum moderators explain everything better than I ever could. Smiling

Yep, I understand. Not trying to initiate new rules here or abolish the old rules, just listing off what I've observed. I tip my hat to you.
