I was at Lowes today to pick up a sump pump. All the rain I am starting to get floods. But I had to stop at the plants first.

I always go to their dead plant area. After I picked up a orchid which I am sure I will kill if it is not already dead. I pick them up for the pots. The plant was a dollar. After picking up the sump pump I went back and picked up this succulent basket but it was not marked also the register in the area was closed.

I went inside the store and I told the clerk it was with the dead plants but no price. She said "Well it is Free"

I thought she was kidding but she did not charge me for it.

The big plant looks blue but it is a dark green almost black with a pink ruffled edge. I took the pick in my bathroom and it is evening.

Good save. The trailing plant is one of my favorites: Crassula marginalis rubra "Calico Kitten". Enjoy!

"Calico Kitten".......I had that plant. I knew it looked familiar. I am going to put one of the plants you sent Bev in there I think it needs lighten up. Debbie probably would look pretty in there. What do you think?

Yes, the colors already there would go with the pink of Debbie. I think what makes the planter look heavy is the large plant in there. I would be tempted to take it out and replace with something that would grow up and over the pot to cascade and even out the triangular coir liner color with color of greenery. Of course I am only seeing the container in certain angle. Maybe is more balanced than it appears?

No you are looking at it right. I was thinking I could maybe plant the outside of the pot but this thing is strange. They really have it wired and it is heavy. I think the coir is weaved into the wire. The coir is not soft it feels more like wood it is so rough and hard.

Maybe move the big plant to the middle and plant around it.

Ok, took a closer look and by what you say, it may not be coir but grapevine that could have been weaved into the wire?
I still think big plant is already big enough and if it got bigger I think it may start to cover all the smaller plants? I think big plant needs a bigger pot if you want it to have company of other plants...

What a save! I do the exact same thing .... although at my Lowe's, it is rarely less than 2.50, lol ...

That is strange that the different Lowes charge different prices. They always have 3 racks one is 1.00....3.00.....5.00. The higher are bushes and trees.

The 1.00 is houseplants, succulents, bulbs and garden décor.

Update of what a little tender loving care has done for my free plant. It has been raining almost every day so it is hard to get a pic of a dry plant.
