No you are looking at it right. I was thinking I could maybe plant the outside of the pot but this thing is strange. They really have it wired and it is heavy. I think the coir is weaved into the wire. The coir is not soft it feels more like wood it is so rough and hard.
Maybe move the big plant to the middle and plant around it.
