I'm not a hybridizer but the bees pollinated some of my daylilies. I was going to harvest some seeds as a project for some kids in my neighborhood to try to grow. Yesterday I went outside and found a pod on the ground with a third of it eaten! It got me to realize that other pods had disappeared. What could be eating them? It's weird because I'm in NYC, not a suburban or rural area. The only possible suspects I can think of are squirrels, raccoons, skunks or possums (never seen but are in the area). How can I protect the remaining pods? It can't be anything smaller because we have far too many stray cats for any mice, chipmunks etc to survive. Any ideas, help would be appreciated!
