I scored this start of Swiss Cheese Philodendron *so the tag says* at our Master Gardener plant sale today. It was left after the sale ended, so I got it FREE! Whoo hoo!

Anyhoo, could anyone tell me if it is the smaller-leafed hanging basket type, Monstera obliqua 'Leichtlinii', or the big one that climbs up palm trees Monstera adansonii?

How do we tell, or can we tell at this stage? Guess I can always use the "trial and error" method and just park the pot at the base of a palm tree. If it climbs . .. My garden supervisor says she really doesn't care, and when's the next meal?

I agree It looks like Monstera obliqua 'Leichtlinii'. I lost a pot last fall. I forgot to bring it in on time. I did get to save some cuttings. I had the big one too, but I don't know what happened to it. I think it was stolen.

Elaine:
That is Monstera obliqua "dwarf" as the adansonii would not be showing fenestrations that small in that little pot. Fenestrations are the holes or splits in the leaves. This plant will climb, get bigger leaves, and the leaf morphology will change slightly, however for the most part the plant is how it normally looks. Enjoy your plants, & look for my announcement I am anticipating to make in the spring that I have my permits to ship plants to the United States.

Sincerely:
Noel Calvert

Woohoo, way to go, Noel. When do we get to see some pictures of your growing nursery?
