Can I talk anyone in this forum into writing an article about Clematis and Rose combinations for "Celebrating Roses" week, starting on April 25th? It doesn't have to be a long article, but it should have lots of illustrations. You can use your own photos or anyone else's photos from the database or from any other place on this site.

Even if you don't want to write an article, can you post some photos of your own rose/clematis combinations or direct me to photos that are already on this site?

Wish I could help, zuzu, but I'm not a good rose grower so I don't have any combinations to offer you.

My clematis are young. The only combination I have of the two is Opening Night Rose and Miss Bateman Clematis. Zuzu, you are welcome to use any or all of these photographs if useful to you.

I have tried to get the clems and roses to co operate. The clems just seem to go in the wrong direction. Maybe I should plant them upwind? Will try to find some photos.

They do go well together, suzmcPA. Look at this great article showing more combinations:

Here's a combination that was supposed to look a lot better. Comtesse de Bouchaud was originally paired with a yellow rose called Lafter and created a nice contrast in colors. Then Pierre de Ronsard (aka Eden) overwhelmed everything in its path and now the poor Comtesse can only provide a contrasting bloom shape.

Gorgeous! Will Eden bloom spring summer and fall? In flushes or continuously? Wonder how it does in Denver?

It blooms in flushes all year, but the flushes are close enough to classify as almost continuous. I'm sorry. I don't know about Denver. I have no experience with colder climates and high altitudes.
