Sue, this one is another can of worms! This double, which some believe is actually 'Kwanso' and it does look like it, has been sold as 'Apricot Beauty' for longer than the cultivar that was registered by the AHS as such in 2013. See these images for daylily Apricot Beauty on Google:

https://www.google.ca/search?q...

I tried to find when this version of Apricot Beauty first started being sold as such, I thought I remembered it from the UK, and found this nursery that lists it as Holman 1963, not that that's definitive:

Does anyone have the paper checklists to make sure it isn't MIA in the AHS Database or just wasn't registered?

While looking, just to add to the confusion, I find Gilbert Wild is selling yet another daylily as Apricot Beauty:

Sighing!

Sounds like a landscape nursery nickname to me. I was actually surprised to see it as a recent intro.

I also suspected linjarvis' bloom is Daylily (Hemerocallis fulva 'Kwanso') and if so, buyer beware, read the comments for that one!

I too was surprised to see the name on a recent intro also since there have been Apricot Beauties around for quite some time. I found a research paper earlier today that included an 'Apricot Beauty' as one of their tested daylily cultivars, and it was dated 2004. I found a couple more sellers with a single flower like the one Wild has too, so there are at least three Apricot Beauties now, also Missouri Botanical Garden with a different one:

I did go and check out the comments for 'Kwanso' - I have 'Variegated Kwanso', one of which has reverted, so I certainly know what it's capable of and keep it out of the main daylily bed nodding

I did notice on the Kwanso page that it says "Self fertile. Will not come true from seed." It's not pod fertile at all, it has no normal female parts so can't set a pod.

thanks for our responses. As soon as it cools down some and I'm well enough, that Kwanso is out of there! I have a Kwanso in my Lilac garden away from most of my other lilies. Someone years ago planted a row of them along the chain link fence across the back of our yard, long before it was our yard (and my husband's been in this house for almost 40 years). Over the years, the back neighbour's cedar hedges have grown up and out covering the lilies and the chainlink fence. When I married my husband 13 years ago and moved in here with him, I saw one and got him to dig it out for me. They never bloomed under the cedars so I didn't know what it was. It took me several years to get rid of it in one of the main gardens I first transplanted that dug up plant to and soon learned they were Kwanso's. The bloom on the one in the front Boulevard garden that I posted as Amber Lady was purchased from a lady selling from her own extensive gardens. I took her word for the name of the lilies and other plants I bought from her - she is a personal breeder and had recently resigned as Greenhouse Manager of one of the most prestigious and popular nurseries just outside the City where I believe she'd held the position for about 10 years. I also have a daylily I purchased from her that she bred but has never named so I didn't post it on here - see the pic below. It is gorgeous - is there a Daylily that isn't? Anyway, thanks again. It's been running a very very humid 30 Celsius (86F) here where it feels like 40 (104F) and I have a serious heart condition and can't do a thing in the heat - just taking pics of the garden this morning did me in! I may have to enlist the help of my husband - again! Lin hmm - thought pic would show here but says it's been moved to generic daylily entry??? oh well
