A few things l grow in my shade beds are:
Brunnera - l tried two cultivars, Jack Frost and King's Ransom and Jack Frost has out performed King's Ransom by far. Same result in my daughter's garden. I wouldn't recommend King's Ransom, but highly recommend Jack Frost. It has lovely blue forget-me-not type flowers in Spring.
Heuchera - there are so many beautifully coloured cultivars to choose from.
I also have a vaiegated form of daylily 'Kwanso' which l grow primarly for the foliage. It really brightens up a shady area, as does variegated Solomon's seal.
Just a few thoughts
