Here are some photos and my thoughts of the installation of the HF Greenhouse Gutter Piece. I cleaned out the gutter before installing but as you will see, it still needs some good spring cleaning. It would be obvious to most which end is up. But being a real live Construction Dummy, it was only obvious to me after installation. No worries. It was a quick and easy fix. Luckily I am a Fast Learner. The opposite end went on perfectly, as if I'd done it once before? Now, without further delay....

The gutter end parts. A pretty Beta Bright Green. But i think i would prefer black to match the other HF GH components:


I chose to install the 2 parts on the South-facing wall of the GH simply because observations would be easier from that side.


The gutter was cleaned of debris and provided HF gutter end caps were removed.


Look at the bit of caulking on the left. It was placed there to seal the gap from water. This will become a slight issue during installation of the beta piece on one side.


I cant believe I actually took a picture of my ineptness. Here it is installed upside-down! Kids! Do NOT attempt to do this at home!


Here we go! I am used to Do Overs.


The drain fits well into the corner of the GH. I am thinking inserting a hose or tube into the hole to a receptacle would be nice?


Had a little trouble getting a good fit on the left side. The applied caulk got in the way. But the silicone was soft and it was easy to manipulate it out of the way.


Horizontally, it is a perfect fit.


Vertically, it was a bit short causing the part to tilt downward a tad making a tight, secure fit impossible without a shim of some type.


Lifted into position beyond the small gap, it would sit perfectly horizontal.


Now I sit and wait for a rainy day so i can report how the past works. Or I may get busy on a sunny day and clean the outside of the GH with the garden hose.

Very nice. It looks like it fits pretty good. Can't wait to install mine. I'm being rained on today thru Friday so hopefully I should be able to put mine on next weekend.
Had to take things slow so not to re injure my back but it's starting to feel really good now.

Well, I wasnt home and missed the 1-1/2" of rain we got last week to document the add-on's ability to handle a downpour. There's a small chance of rain tomorrow. If I'm home when it happens, I'll take pix of the add-on in action.

But on the upside, the add-on stayed put during our 40 mph wind gusts last Wed.

It was hard to catch drops falling but the piece works great in a light rain. Here it is tonight in a heavier rain.


You can see it even let's debris fall freely out of the gutter instead of clogging.

Oh how I wish I had a few more days before the rain came and I could be posting pics and the details of mine that I got as well.




Looks like I might be able to start back up next weekend if it stays clear

@ecscuba marsfrogie is the invemtor of these little gems. He was on the HFGH thread Jan. 31 and asked for installation testers i was lucky to be chosen. They are nearly perfect in size and work like a charm. I hope @marsfrogie markets them. I'd buy them!

I too faced a similar problem where the filters where not installed properly, I tried correcting it myself but in the process ended up broking it! finally I had to replace it with new ones and the remodeling guys did a good job, So you can also try this people in case you face any problems in future as they have some best deals in these products and also have great customer service!

Update.
I've had the gutter pieces for almost 4 seasons. The original fitting issue, the fact that it won't install completely level has become an issue. The piece will not stay on the gutter ends tightly and I often find them on the ground. Perhaps, it is the shrinking of the original material from which it was made? Seems any gush of water and debris will dislodge them now. Recently, I cleaned the gh and the gutters are free from debris. With the coming rains, I will watch and see how it works. Otherwise, I have a hankering to wedge that sucker in with something because I do like how it directs the water flow.

I was somewhat surprised to see that someone took the effort to review these things. I wonder if that is the newest version or not that you have there. They were originally meant to have a screw or pop rivet secure them to the end of the gutter. If it is firmly pushed in it should be level with the ground. I can make them in black easily. Just to clarify, the correct installation process is to silicone the "channel" in the adapter, push it into place, and drill a small hole through the aluminum which matches up with the hole in the gutter adapter. Then you can put a small machine screw in place and a nut on the back side.

Hey @Marsfrogie Of course we reviewed them. They are a very useful product! You were kind enough to send them out for testing. I will properly install the two I have with caulk and a screw.

How is your progress going with them? Are they on the market yet? I could use two more for the other side of the greenhouse as I find they work well to channel the water away from the GH.

Just pm me. I'm not planning on going mainstream with them, but if any fellow gardening enthusiasts want to give then a try I can make them a set for a reasonable fee.

You should put an ad in our Classifieds. You might get a few sales from this forum at least? It's a handy gadget! I'll give an official testimony.
