Name: Daisy I Reno, Nv (Zone 6b) Not all who wander are lost
Where is this tree located? It looks like a Buckeye seedling.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and proclaiming...."WOW What a Ride!!" -Mark Frost

Name: John Scott County, KY (Zone 5b) You can't have too many viburnums..
Note the alternate arrangement of buds/leaves along the stem - cannot be an Aesculus sp.
Moon was on the right track. This is a nut tree, and in fact it's a Carya sp. - likely Carya ovata (Shagbark Hickory) or Carya laciniosa (Shellbark Hickory).
Knowing where the plant is growing might help in the absolute ID. The OP should share that.
