If anyone has had any luck propagating this plant that would be great. It's becoming quite popular down in the south. I have tried taking cuttings but they all rot.

I've been taking tip cuttings about 5 inches long, and just sticking them in the soil and keeping them moist. This is in my greenhouse. I also have some cuttings right now rooting in water to see if that works any better. The ones in the soil wilted originally, but perked up in about a week and are now growing well. I love them. Such beautiful flowers!

Thank you for your input. I have one hanging on. Let me know how the water propagation goes. I am going to try and layer some to the ground.

I hadn't even thought of layering, but that sure sounds like it would work. I've done that with a lot of other plants. I'll give that a try too. I should never have put it in a small greenhouse raised bed! I have to cut it back almost daily. I'd love having it outdoors, but we have deer and rabbits that eat everything planted outside.

@Woodman12 if you put cape plumbago in the ground it puts out it's own runners. They are a reddish orange white color. I am the same zone as you. It is semi aggressive second year in the ground. Sometimes when it's in the ground you can take heavy cardboard, lay it all around next to the plant. Hold the cardboard down with bricks or stones. Keep watering and fertilize with Miracle Grow. The next spring there should be runners all under the cardboard trying to escape. May you be blessed with a wonderful week!
