I have never grown a croton before but want to try it as a houseplant.. I think these are beautiful plants and add abit of cheer to my office, Allow with my Pink allusion arrowhead which is growing great :).. here are a couple of pics on my newest addition>>>

My guess is like most Croton's, they would prefer a slightly acid, to neutral soil, and for the most brilliant color leaves, a bright (full sun) light. Average watering.

Very pretty NatureGirl! I agree with terrafirma, like all Croton (Codiaeum variegatum) your plant should be given as much light as possible. They grow as landscape plants here in Florida in both full, blazing sun as well as dappled shade but the more light, the more vivid the leaf colors will be. When grown in the ground, they are drought tolerant once established but they thrive on high humidity which we have year-round down here. Good air circulation is important as well.

Keep it tightly potted for best results. Place it in a sunny indoor windowsill. Water thoroughly as soon as the surface of eh soil feels dry. As a houseplant, it won't tolerate dryness. Like most Crotons, it is a favored host of spider mites so keep temps down and the air moist as much as possible.

Since I bought this plant a month ago it has doubled in size and some roots are starting to come out of the bottom of the pot.. Time to transplant it and which size pot should I use? it's really bushing out, I keep it in my office which gets HOT and alot of bright sun as I am noticing more red spots

Roots coming out of a drain hole are not a reliable indicator of a plant's needing a larger pot. If you are having trouble keeping the soil properly moist without watering every few days, then It may be time to move it into a pot one size larger. If the soil stays moist for 5 days or more, then it is probably best to leave it alone for now.

Once you remove the old soil and trim any circling &/or unnecessarily big roots, it may fit back into the same pot.
