Thread OP

I found this plant at a backyard nursery, the Guy running the nursery told me" it's a type of Begonia". I figured he was smokin what he was growing...
The plant grows similar to my False Aralia, however the leaves are a little wider as well as a couple shades lighter. I noticed a couple weeks after bringing it home(early May), it started to bloom, a single flower on the tip of each of the 38" semi woody limbs. The flower puts me in mind of a Morning Glory. The flower blooms in the morning and then dies off right about dark.
Can anyone throw some ideas at me on what to research to find the name of this guy? I've gone thru the search on this sight multiple times with no results.
Any and all help greatly appreciated!
Thanks for your time.

I have no clue as to how to answer your question, though. Sorry!

Yes, a pic would tremendously helpful, but when you say Morning Glory, do you mean the petals are NOT individual? How big was the flower? Color? About the leaves, do the leaflets all come together at the same point like they do with False aralia? Are they hair, smooth or glossy?

Hi Rick, Welcome! from me too!

If you can upload a photo, I bet you could get a more exact ID but it could very well be a Begonia of some sort! Begonias (Begonia) have all sorts of leaf shapes and bloom sizes and shapes! A couple that come to mind with leaves similar to False Aralia:
Palm-leaf Begonia (Begonia luxurians)
Begonia (Begonia bipinnatifida)

Well, forget my last post ... if the bloom is large and more like Morning Glory, it could very well be a variety of Ipomoea. How about:
Mile A Minute Vine (Ipomoea cairica)

I wonder if "Backyard nursery" means someone selling plants from their backyard ... I've come across yard sales and garage sales in the past where folks are selling potted plants that they have no clue to the identity. Green Grin!
