Hi! As said in the title i think my red oak seedlings are dying.. they were perfectly fine until i moved for summer and changed their location. Despite giving them water, the leads went really dry, lost their color and ultimately begin to fall on the first one. The same is likely going to happen to my second oak, it is also so high for it's trunk diameter it cannot hold itself anymore. They were acorns that i picked up last fall.

Also there's a picture of my apple seedling (second picture). This one seems quite alright but he have not growed in like 2-3 months.

Why are my red oaks dying and my apple tree not growing anymore? is there something i can do to save them? Thank you!

Are you growing these trees inside of a house?

Yes, they are at a window side and are exposed to sunlight for most of the day. My stores are always closed as well do you think it may causes too many condensed sun light on them?

Both the Oak and the Apple are trees that want to grow out of doors; they want to be planted in the ground. The environment/climate inside a house is not good for the trees.

Looking at the photos it seems that you have fairly modern windows; some newer windows have built-in UV protection to keep out some of the harmful rays of the sun - to keep furniture/drapes/carpets from fading. That coating as well as the window screens serve to block some of the sun's rays from entering the living area of your home. A good thing for people and furnishings but not so good for trees that want to be growing outside. Also the temperature and humidity inside the home may not be ideal for the trees.

I see that you have some lovely plants outside the window. Can you try to grow your trees outside in large pots?

But if he plants it right now, will it survive the winter? We both grew oak trees from the same batch of acorns.

thank you greene, you're right about the window i didn't think about it.. this would explain why it grew so high so quickly .. trying to get to the light.

Northern hearty trees belong out of doors. They also belong in soil that admits much more air than the garden soil they are in now.

Plan on starting over next spring.

The soil my trees live in is one part Gran-i-Grit and one part pine bark mulch with a dusting of peat and oyster-shell.

@Coppice has good information for you. Yes, I agree, you may have to plan on finding a new acorn and starting over.
