Hi there. I like streptocarpus, too. They grow very happily under my plant light in fall and winter, then set buds and can flower for many weeks in my bedroom in winter-spring. But I killed them by putting them out in our heat- our heat I think is more heat than yours.
Like the cane begonias too, have three kinds at the moment, multiple pots.
Rex, haven't done much with, but would enjoy I'm sure. I do have a small beefsteak.
Plant it and they will come.

Hi & welcome! I don't have any Streptocarpus but if I saw one, I would want it. IDK a thing about those.

Begonias are some of my favs, for sure, they don't mind 99° days, stagnant nights & soupy humidity.

Life is "mind over matter". If I d
Sally--I can give you a bigger Beefsteak Begonia--if you want. Fresh off the grill.... Rolling on the floor laughing
I have several--in different sizes. I am always rooting their leaves ....

My big, old one is almost all fat, curled, snaky stem...I want to break it off and root
the fat stem and let the original grow on. Not sure this would be wise????
That is just how somw Begonias grow--right???? input?

LMK before Saturday. G.

hi this last picture was taken on my landing upstairs, i bought it this year, it was only 1inch high a plug, i put it in a pot of peat (10cm pot) with perlite and vermiculite mix , put it on a saucer in water weekly and use african violet liquid feed every 2 weeks, during flowering season
for all my plants takes me an hour to water them!!
i will post photo's of other plants, as soon as they come into flower
got about 60 house plants last count
here a photo of ones in my porch http://garden.org/i/s/smily.gi...

I am an orchid killer sadly. I think I saw a butterfly shaped pot at Home Depot the other day, but their pots are expensive. Glare

We have a few stores here that I think would be called charity shops, but it isn't very often that I find pots there. Sad

We have several charity shops here. Sometime's they are pretty savvy about stuff though, and put 'better' things on ebay. I had a phase of going to charity shops for green or 'milk' glass, and made a little collection.
I found terra cotta wine bottle coolers at charity. I use them as toilet brush holders though. I love terra cotta and its the right shape.
Plant it and they will come.
