Ive never been able to grow this plant here, unfortunately. I have the seeds and I had a start, but the seeds didn't sprout and the start didn't live. I'd love to have the opportunity to try again.

Took this photo yesterday. Our California Gray Sage is big and sprawling. Last year I cut it down to size about this time of year and there wasn't much bloom come may so this year I'll leave it be till just after the bloom hoping to get a full production of flowers. This is about ten foot across and four high.

The yellow flowers are Willow-leaved Sunflower (Helianthus salicifolius 'First Light'). There's another yellow flowered plant gone to seed that you can see just behind it. They don't bloom with the Salvia so the color is just paired with It's gray foliage. There is also a Rosa 'Sally Holmes' to the right and below are Nepeta which both bloom with the Salvia. Beyond are Russian Sage, Clary Sage, Weeping Buddleja and other smaller Salvias and California Fuchsia that all seem to work well together over our long growing season. The Sunflower along with a few Salvia's are still blooming strong in late Oct. Cutleaf Coneflower (Rudbeckia laciniata 'Herbstsonne')
