Good morning, I am new here and hopefully this isn't a stupid question but we stumbled upon a strange plant on our new property I have been unable to ID

The round smooth "pod" for lack of a better term is about 2.5-3" in diameter and seems to be filled with a ver fine powder, almost spore like and dark green

They appear to grown on a bush of some sort and once the fall the seem to almost root themselves in the soil and always seem hole up

They are super soft and disturbing them at all seems to cause a release of the powder inside

It looks like oak gall to me

After researching oak hall it's seems if it were oakngall it would be more solid and woody

I can take some more pictures today however these pods are super soft and are very thin walled almost like craft paper

When we touch it lightly on the grown a small cloud of super fine dark green powder puffs out

When cut open it appears about 1/2 full with loose dark green fine powder

It's a type of fungus, the "powder" is it's spores
