This was taken in the spring of the Southern hemisphere in New Zealand. Any idea why the leaves turned red?

UnusualπŸ˜•πŸ˜•πŸ˜•Not knowing your weather. Usually leaves turn redish,evenly,from hot afternoon sun.
Im not sure if prolonged feeezing might possibly do that. It appears those tips fall off !!!! Im i right ?
Hopefully some one knows.
