Decorating the Porch for Christmas

By Paul2032

I have enough Christmas things to decorate several rooms with much left over, but at this time in my life I keep things simple. I do like to decorate the porch so it will seem welcoming. I prefer natural things like berries, crab apples, evergreens, cones, etc. Most of these things I can collect from my own yard or the yards of family members and friends. I like them arranged in urns or baskets, and they last until the New Year, when I discard them. Here are a couple of examples for this year:

They are just gorgeous, Paul! I LOVE all that nature-y stuff to decorate with too! Nicely done! Hurray!

I have a big basket (inside) filled with pinecones and stalks of (fake) berries...and I have a giant glass jar that I put pinecones and small glass Christmas ornaments in...along with a strand of those battery powered tiny little LED lights that you can get for a couple of bucks at the big box stores. The lights really set them off, and I bet they would look fabulous wound around in your beautiful displays as well, especially at night if you have guests coming or going.

So pretty, Paul!! I love how you can do all of that without having to buy anything either, just using what's around you. Well done!!

WOW!!! Gorgeous animals...just look at that buck! Awesome, Paul, just awesome!

Down here people pay big money to buy statues that look like that!

Reminds me of when I lived in New York and we would get whole herds of deer out in the fields at the salt blocks my dad had out for the horses...sometimes more than 20 deer at a time, playing, eating....that was when my dad quit hunting them---he couldn't shoot them anymore after watching them in the fields. Made me happy...they are just too beautiful to shoot with anything other than a camera!

A little late here, but berry Nice Paul. Thumbs up
I used some of the Yaupon this year in a few Christmas decorations, and along the mantle in our home this year.

The fir pieces came from trimming of trees at the box store at no cost, and the yaupon was a freebie from my property. Love those freebies. Big Grin
