I have purple oxalis planted in the pot with a small fan palm. THe oxalis dries up when I bring it in for winter, and leafs out again when the pot goes back out in spring. This past spring, I pulled some of the tubers and grew separate pots of oxalis. All happy for summer.
Not wanting to bring in pots only to have them dry up and go dormant, , I dumped them and bagged them dry. I potted up some of the dormant bulbs in dry mix, and left them alone. I wanted to now get one pot to grow. I thought once I watered it and set it under my light shelf , it would leaf out, but it's been a couple weeks, and so far no action. What am I missing? Do they need a shot of warmth?

I feel for you! I have about 6 pots of Purple. Oxalis that I bring in every year.
They sit on my small laundry room windowsill and just shrivel up. Need to water them more...
When I think of it--I go down and water the Oxalis pots. They DO rebound very quickly.

When I put them out for summer--they take some time to bush out--but they DO!

Like you--I am lost at how I could keep them all going all winter.??? I KNOW how gorgeous they can be..
I just don't have space for more pots.
Come Summer--they will join the many pots sitting under my patio roof. mixed with other pots.
BUT!!! I sure wold love to see a FULL pot of the Oxalis. Lush! Beautifully purple! etc...

PS--see if anyone in your library would like to have some starts of "Pregnant Onion".
You could combine it with an educational presentation. What is "pregnant"? Do Chives have babies?
How di they live in dirt all winter? etc...etc...
All the babies are sprouting....they pot looks like it is full of mini-chives.
I could divide them up if you are interested?????????????????? G.

No thanks on the pregnant onion. We really can't do a program like that, not enough interest in plants /gardening.

George, I let them dry again, and then started again. Maybe they have a length of time to rest. Maybe they need warmth. I can' t say. They are going now. Also the ones in my potted palm have come up. It is outside now.

I'm surprised this was 2017. I am asking myself the same question now. It seems like they need warmth to get started. Once a few leaves come up, and they have good light, they seem to keep on going. I have three 5 inch pots and a couple 3 inch pots- the larger pots seem much more full and happy- especially the dark purple leafed ones.

I only have one pot of oxalis mixed green and purple. I just bring it inside and put it anywhere I can find room. It looks spindly compared to its summer look but it keeps blooming and growing small shoots.
