Hey everybody, this is my friend Catt.. She's been adding a lot her collection of Iris since she retired a year ago... My only beef with her is that I always called *myself* the Goddess of the Garden.. The nerve! Hilarious!

Welcome Catt!!!

Can you tell us any more about the iris you are trying to identify? How long have you had it? How tall is it? Does it have a scent or purple based foliage? With that help we can sometimes search the database and give you suggestions of possibilities. The only way to know the identity for sure is to narrow the possibilities and then grow test plants of the possible matches in the garden next to your plant and compare time of bloom, height, color, etc. side by side.

...and Sherry Hilarious! Hilarious! Hilarious! you can be a goddess too! Just give yourself a tag line! Big Grin

Welcome!

It reminds me of a Sutton, like Fusion.

Sherry you ARE the Garden Goddess for sure!!! ok to answer the questions Moiries:
1. This is my 2nd season with it
2. 34" tall
3. Very faint not sweet scent and no purple based foliage

Thank you all for the welcomes and help with the silly dilemma and I look forward to interacting with you. I can't believe I mislabeled the tag but I do remember last year the tag got misplaced so I thought this was a different iris...DOH!

Did you get it from an online vendor? maybe they have images to compare?
Would you recognize the name if you saw it? meaning, did you know the name in the past before the wrong tag got attached? Do you have a list of iris you own that can be checked for comparison?

Leslie mention a possible Sutton iris, which I also thought of right away. She brought up this one as a possibility but I think there are others that may also be similar.

I was thinking Sutton too. Fusion is close, but seems to have less distinct veining on the falls, less white in the falls, more yellow in the falls and more white in the standards. Fusion seems to have more he ruffles too, which makes me think Catt's iris is a bit older. Still it's the closest I've seen. It has the light rim around the falls, the bluish streaks below the beards, similar beards, similar serrated edge to the falls and standards. The differences may just be lighting, the age of the bloom, or the difference in soil & climate.

Here is another photo of Fusion with similar lighting:

I can't find anything closer. If you are lucky maybe someone who grows this can send you a rhizome to compare.

Or maybe someone else will have another suggestion.

Good Luck Catt!

And Sutton had another one like Fusion. Used to be carried by Burgard. Which is the one I thought of but I am still struggling to remember it's name. *Blush*
