Thread OP

HI I just saw this "raffle" but don't have any acorns yet. how long does it take to get some if I post pictures? but then what if those aren"t approved or there or none needed for that plant? what is the best way to get these so I can enter the raffle?

Welcome! Once an admin has reviewed your photo and approved it, you will receive your acorn. After you have submitted enough photos (not sure if there is a precise number) with no problems (i.e., clear photo, correct ID of plant), your submittals will be automatically approved right after entry. I've gifted you 5 nuts to join the raffle.

Or not. Don't feel pressured to disclose personal information until you are comfortable with the site. Some folks will provide a general geographical area, others will be more specific with town and state. As you can see from the replies, another fun way to spend your nuts is to buy icons (called badges) that describe your interests. If you hover over the icon, it will show what is represents - some are easy to figure out, others a bit more cryptic.

Hi imasower,
We don't earn acorns for pictures we post to threads. You can earn acorns by uploading plant photos to the database or by entering data about a plant at the database entry.

There is always need for photos of plants in the database, just find the database entry for a plant you have a photo of and on the left side of the page you will see an area that says Adding Actions, click on where it says Upload a Photo and follow the steps. Everything goes into a queue for the database administrators and you will receive a system message once it's been approved and added.
