I thought you might like to make a Miniature Japanese lantern for your Mini Garden.
Thumb of 2011-11-27/Ridesredmule/d508fe
I made this little frame. Transplanted a semp and some of it's little cousins into it.
Thumb of 2011-11-27/Ridesredmule/aca1f7
Here are my little lanterns I made for my garden. Bridge is Balsa wood over mini dry creek bed....
Thumb of 2011-11-27/Ridesredmule/cda50a
Roll out the clay and condition very good. I started out with 1" circles two of them. One for top one for tottom.
You can go ahead and make tiny feet to put on tottom of base. I use four but three can be used.
Thumb of 2011-11-27/Ridesredmule/7f434f
Turn it over and you are ready to make the middle.
Thumb of 2011-11-27/Ridesredmule/fa8fbdThis is about 3/4" tall. and you want to make it fit inside the circle.
I put the holes in with my toothpick. You can use a tiny punch also if you wish.
Thumb of 2011-11-27/Ridesredmule/f65649
You will need to join together to place on one of the circles....
Thumb of 2011-11-27/Ridesredmule/9a4361
If you want you can do this on a wooden dowel.
I center this on my little circle.
Thumb of 2011-11-27/Ridesredmule/98e6c6
This is how I formed the little feet. Cut out 4 little feet.
Thumb of 2011-11-27/Ridesredmule/1da206
This is about an inch long and cut in half then place together and cut again...
Thumb of 2011-11-27/Ridesredmule/988065
Sure you can do it. Now we put it all together. and turn it up on it's feet
got to make the little thing on top.

Thumb of 2011-11-27/Ridesredmule/46cb69
Make another little log and I twisted it together and tapered it like a Unicorn horn. This one is going to sit on the ground.

Thumb of 2011-11-27/Ridesredmule/2a6d89 This one I used a tiny cutter to shape.
I also made a smaller one and it is made much the same way.
The one in the hanger I Put a hole in the pagoda to hang it, but in other I made a circle I have got to take a picture of it...

Thumb of 2011-11-27/Ridesredmule/c1f620
This shows you the different size of the circles. the smaller one can be used for small lanterns. I love to make them.

Thumb of 2011-11-27/Ridesredmule/f864f6
Hope you like this. Now you can have a mini Japanese garden too.....

Char,Those are really neat. How did you get the pale one to glow in the Dark?, very cute. I don't have a mini garden yet, but do have some semps that I can try to start one, those lanterns would look great there.

cheryl, I got some of the small cutters at Hobby Lobby yesterday, and JoAnnes has them too. I've started going down the Wilton cake isles and checking out all the small cutters there too.
