I had requested some Calotripis gigantea seeds from someone in FL....
and this is what I got.

I can not find any image that looks like this seed, if that is what it is.

The person is from Port Charlotte, and they stated these "seeds" were at the base of their Giant MW.

Any ideas?

Hmmm, each one looks like a dried up Calotropis gigantea flower minus the lower star-shaped part. They certainly don't look like the seeds.

Don't you just love it when all you get is chaff and rubbish in a seed trade.

Thanks Danita.... yesterday, before posting, i finally found what an open seed pod looks like, and noticed that the seed looks like every other Milkweed seed. that is when i realized i did not get the seed for the Giant MW.

So, these are indeed NOT a seed of any sort, but spent blooms?

well, not harm no foul as she just sent them to me, no trade involved.

Since moving to FL, I'm building butterfly gardens and raising monarchs. (such fun, but you realize they have a hard road just to emerge as a butterfly)

I have a Giant MW, I will attempt to propagate from cuttings when i get home in Sept/Oct.

Claiming no expertise here, but they sure look like spent blooms to me. See how the top part of the flowers look exactly like the "things" that you got as seeds.



I don't have any seeds of those to offer, but do you need any Anglepod (Gonolobus suberosus) for your Monarch garden?

My Giant MW had lots of blooms when i left FL, but have not seen a seed pod yet. (Just got the plant over the winter)

Would love the vine... the more plants I have the better.
I'm trying to get a variety of MW's and lots of nectar plants.
