I would like help identifying this iris. It's tall bearded. Maybe 3 ft. I didn't measure. Buds are dark, almost purple. Mauve standard and fall. Yellow beard. Faint stripes near the center. Brownish mauve stripes on brownish yellow. Foliage is all green down to the base. Pics look blurry but are clear if you open them.

I look forward to learning what I have here.

Stephanie, I split your post off the other ID thread since that was started by another member and it's always best to start your own so it gets the attention it needs rather than mixed into another thread. Thumbs up

I think your NoID is an historic iris. I am not very familiar with them but I have copied a post made by Arlyn in a different thread which may be useful:
crowrita1 said:Here's web page I use, often, in searching for historics. It's in German, but there is an "English" *button* at the top. I usually start with his "collection"....you'll have several choices, in this case you'll pick "Historic". Then, you can "scroll through" and see if anything "clicks"....it's also a pretty good "teaching tool", as you can see that most irises of the same "time frame" have many similarities in form...color combinations, etc......and that helps one get a better handle on the "age group" that the NOID might be from. You can also search "by Hybridizer"...you 'click' on the flag of the country they were from, then pick the hybridizer, and see all their intros, wether or not they are "known" to be in a collection....somewhere...and see any pix there might be of them(that he is able to publish). The HIPS forum now has a "search feature,also....follow the "prompts"

I had a quick look at the HIPS website and did an advanced search for irises with fall and standards rose/mauve. I think Kate Izzard is worth considering.

No, the standards are too pink for Quaker Lady. Unfortunately there are a lot of pink historic irises so I can't be of much further help.

I have Quaker Lady and Lestv is correct. Standards are definitely different from falls. My mystery mauve iris is same color standard and fall.

My earlier pics show too much purple color. Here are a couple more. The mauve is definitely warm, almost brownish hue. In these pics you can see comparison to purple. I'm still having no luck identifying this iris.

I'm not sure what that colour is called. I have been looking through the database too and the closest one I have found is:

but I don't think it looks exactly right.

Way too purple, but I love it.

Stephanie...I spent quite a while trying to find this one. I love the color!! (the corrected more warm peach color...not the duller mauve which appears to have been taken in the shade)

Thumb of 2017-06-05/Moiris/6ff658

I looked through the iris city gardens website and a few others but so far have not found anything in that particular color. I will keep my eye out for it...it's a very different color that should stand out if we ever run across it.

In the meantime....if you ever divide it I would love to have a piece even without the name!! Drooling *Blush* nodding Most of my irises are more modern, I've only recently gotten bitten by the 'historic iris' bug (gee...I wonder how that happened?? Hilarious! ) but I would be happy to share anything I have available that you like. If you are interested you can tree-mail me.

How about China Maid ? I had it on my list from Bluebird Haven and yours looked familiar to something I saw in while researching the catalog. http://wiki.irises.org/bin/vie...

That looks really close!

Originally I was thinking Tea Rose, but the colors are so different in all the pictures it's hard to say but I keep looking at it on this page (15) and I totally see a resemblance.. http://www.historiciris.org/ar...

I agree that Tea Rose is another possibility. From the few photos I can find, it seems to have that slight flash of purple near the beard like the NoID does.

Oh dear, I looked at the historic iris link Meredith posted. So many pretties. That Bertha Gersdorff is sure a nice luminata. Like that it is yellow and red more than the typical purple family of colors.

The Tea Rose in the link looks like quite a good possibility. You may need to get one to grow for comparison.

I had tried ordering Tea Rose from Bluebird Haven Iris and she said it wasn't available. Hopefully it isn't one of the missing cultivars and it will be available in the future!
