You can now add hashtags to images in the plants database. Hashtags are words that start with a # sign.

Now the fun part: since it's pollinators week, I have set it up so that you can post photos into the database with the hashtag #Pollination. Then I am going to promote your pollinator photos on the homepage and also the MPGC Page.

If you have already posted photos to the database that show pollinators, you can go edit those photos and add the hashtag to the caption.

If I come across some other member exceptional shots, can I tag them?

Can we seen an example of how to do this, I added two photos but am not sure I did it correctly?

Copy and paste it right in the caption section

As long as it is separated, meaning the hashtag has at least a space between it and the caption.

Yes, as an admin, you should feel free to add that hashtag to the caption of any image you see that needs it.

These photos are now being showcased on the homepage, for this week only taking the place of the Inspirations. So if you don't have the Inspirations on your homepage, turn them on this week so you can enjoy watching the #Pollination photos.

There is also a link under the image that you can click on to view all plant photos that are tagged.

I'm really enjoying the Pollinators Week photos and banners. Very nice! I'll check to see if I have any appropriate photos to put the hashtag on.

Now these have to have actual pollinators in the image, I notice a few with just plants, no pollinators.

The tag really should only be used if a pollinator animal is present.

Feel free to edit the tag out of those images, Sue.

Yesterday I ran around the yard taking photos of 3 plants. Just now I got around to editing and wow! there was a pollinator busy in one of the images.

I may have gone a bit overboard with posting pollinator photos but I'm really loving this feature and love seeing all the beautiful pollinators and blooms that they visit!

This has been fun and I hope it continues all week!

Question--I have edited a few images w/ the #Pollination caption but they don't show up in the bucket while one that I just added to the database did immediately--am I doing something wrong?

@dirtdorphins, I saw several of yours, did you look through the entire list? They are mixed in with the others.

well, not since I edited a few...I only looked at the first page thinking they'd show up there, but now I see they are showing up elsewhere (by date added to the database maybe? or some other order?)

okay, well at least they are getting in there just want my beefriends represented!
but, having been thru the list already, I might not be so inclined to scroll thru the whole list again and again just to see if there are any "new ones" appearing all mixed in when and if more folks get to editing theirs, which is kinda sad because I don't want to miss any
